A shrinking violet- no, not a flower short of blooming. But rather, one who refrains from using her voice in addressing concerns that may not align with her beliefs. A shrinking violet, one who may agree with another simply to follow societal norm. A shrinking violet, one who knows right from wrong but chooses to remain quiet in order to be socially accepted. This shrinking violet was once me.
I feared being judged simply because of my personality. Not that it was unusual, but rather because I wanted to shape myself according to what another person would consider likable. For the longest time, I had no individual self.
Frankly, the title of this blog says it best. An American teenager who strives to keep relevant in a world with little consistency. In keeping up with the latest trends, via fashion and the overall course of life I’m hoping to develop a personality and share it with the world. And what better way to do this than voice your opinion regarding things you are most passionate about. With this platform, my goal is to establish a sense of individuality by putting myself out there without having to worry about what people may say.
