Style fanatics and other creative professionals, wallow in the subdued yet cohesive color scheme evident in Rag and Bone’s Fall/Winter 2020 Collection as attendants of the annual show based in New York City.
Unlike other designer labels at New York Fashion Week, Rag and Bone is a collective focused on contemporary, urban style.
Founded by british designer, Marcus Wainwright, the brand aims to produce edgy garments yet carry a New York aesthetic. Hence, the prevalence of oversized denim, long-line coats, bulky bum bags, and relaxed t-shirts showcased on their website.
For their Fall/Winter runway collection, the designers, and other curators, opted for a similar color palette to be used in their presentation. The dark, yet eccentric event unveiled a number of earthy tones; Among some of which include forest green, heather gray, rust orange, turmeric yellow, a muted taupe, and other dark hues.
Wainwright was supposedly hoping to illustrate the beauty of english tailoring and military apparel in his recent collection. As an avid fashion enthusiast and fellow observer, I can attest to the designer’s use of deconstructed workwear and shape-shifting female garb to achieve his theme.
Among some of my favorite pieces in Rag and Bone’s collection emulate the style of streetwear, similar to my personal taste in fashion.

An oversized, fit to wear jacket usually classifies as a staple in urban style; Especially one that is solid in color and compliments the layers underneath. Such a look is evident in Wainwright’s assortment.
During the show, a female model stepped out in what appeared to echo a black mock neck sweater, paired with sheer tights, and a hefty robe- doubling up as a jacket. It sat at the thighs in length and gave the woman sporting it, some shape. The garment had a soft, sherpa texture allowing the patron wearing it to keep snug.
As far as accessories, the ensemble was also paired with white platform sandals and a mini olive green shoulder bag- a fashion component making its comeback from the 90s.
The getup was one you may have seen on the streets leading up to the affair, let alone a constituent to the show.

Another look which seemed to catch my eye in the show was a plaid ensemble, consisting of a midi dress and a pair of knee-high boots. Model Aliet Sarah, was seen in a full-sleeve garment, with a tie at the waist, embracing her figure. The dress falling just above the knee, had a slit, exposing her left leg. Overall, both the dress and the shoes adopted fairly muted colors including shades of gray, white, and black.
